the pen writes itself.... I'm a young woman from a multi-ethnic family, heavily involved in the liberal and fine arts, who decided to go to medical school with Akhenaten [in the carribbean] after becoming pregnant with our first and only child, Strangecharm (soon turning 4 years old). While battling an assault on my sense of self, provocated by early motherhood, relocation, and mental redirectioning I found myself acutely aware of solemn moments wherein I was allowed to immerse myself in the present. These photos and findings are a documentation of my attempts to maintain in-contact with the aesthetic principles that govern my particular set of preferences (inherent or otherwise) for sensation & perception.

Bedroom Aquarium, Seattle, Washington

we’d always tell people to “turn left at the rusty boat” to get to our house…
is this real? how could this be real?
the first street we lived on. marisol and i were just taking in our surroundings. opening the balcony door would create a wind tunnel through the small apartment.
Just a small detail from the beautiful tree house (Indigo Studio), which was built by Marie, a french expressionist painter, whom i had the pleasure of meeting.
i made a dear friend on the island, of transitory nature, who gifted me with her collection of beads before she departed, among many other things. i traded hours of slumber for time spent making earrings/necklaces for friends (and for myself) my last few months on the island…
let me know if you want a pair! haha <3
imagine if, instead of a parking lot, you saw this outside of your starbucks/coffee-bean/peet’s/insert-other-independent-coffee-house-name. this is part of the reason i really loved the island… is that you could not escape this appreciation for ebuliant life-forms. the climate was so ideal for nurturing this life-force.
for the last 3 months of our stay on the island we would have to be on the road by 6:45am, which meant 5:30am alarms for me, akhenaten (Sachin), and strangecharm. ugh.
i got mad love for cacti and succulents. don’t be fooled by the palm trees in southern california. we are most definitely a desert.
One of the first sunsets I caught from our first month on the island. The houses are multicolored and lovely. Such a contrast coming from a planned community.
